I am directed by Hr. Secretary Creech Jones to refer to his despatch No.217 of the 24th June, 1947, to the Governor of Hong Kong, of which a copy was sent to you, on the subject of the control of the port of Hong Kong and to forward à copy of the Governor of Hong Kong's despatch No. 59 of 20th March, 1948.
The outstanding points in connection with the constitution of the Port Committee have been further considered and it is now proposed to accept the Governor's recommendation regarding the Chairmanship of the Comittee and the other points refcrred to in his despatch.
Before replying in this sense Mr. Creech Jones would be glad to learn whether the Minister of Transport has any further observations to offer on these points.
